About GATE
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India Examination administered and conducted jointly by Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science. An online test which is conducted in January to February every year. Students need to apply online for this examination.
GATE, the national-level exam, is conducted every year for admission to MTech program in various engineering colleges across India along with Indian Institutes of Technology. Marks obtained by candidates in GATE are the basis of their enrolment to postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering.
Benefits Of GATE
The GATE score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate.
The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs.
Better remuneration is being offered for students of M.Tech/M.E as compared to those pursuing B.Tech /B.E.
Students who qualify in GATE are entitled to a stipend of Rs 8,000 per month during their M.Tech course.
GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings.
There are total 217 Public sector units.
A good GATE rank assures a good job. After joining M.Tech. at IITs and IISc, one can look at a salary package ranging from Rs 7 lakh to 30 lakh per annum, depending upon specialisation and performance.
Eligibility
T.E. / B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Pharm.
Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc/ Diploma in Engineering/ Technology) and those who are in the final year of such program.
Currently in the final year or already completed.
Int. M.E./ M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)
Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (Five-year program)
Currently in the 4th/5thyear or already completed.
